System Administration Group

From Hack Manhattan Wiki

Hello! The intention of the open source system administration group is to learn about system administration topics with hands-on collaborative learning on a homelab setup of

four [Dell PowerEdge R430 servers](https://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/shared-content/data-sheets/en/Documents/Dell-PowerEdge-R430-Spec-Sheet.pdf) and an [Extreme Summit X450e-48p managed switch](https://documentation.extremenetworks.com/summit_16/GUID-E4A084AB-FAC8-4A09-9451-6F72854D769B.shtml)

We’ll deploy components like LDAP(authentication) Ansible (Infrastructure as Code) NextCloud (file storage) OpenStack (Cloud computing) OpenTofu (IaC Terraform fork) containerization and other open source software We also intend to explore clustering, certainly high-availability and possibly compute clustering.

-Completed setups-

+We've mounted the 4 switches on the rack in the server room

+installed the OS

+established procedures and documentation standards.

Now we're starting to work in small groups or individually on projects. An under-construction list of project ideas is at https://wiki.hackmanhattan.com/Project_Ideas.

We have room for a few new people. Sign up to this event through the meetup.com page, come and do the exercise, and you're in.

Please bring a laptop if you can. We'll have a limited number of machines available you can use.
