Talk:Bylaws

From Hack Manhattan Wiki

I like the HacDC bylaws, they seem simpler and shorter than the Noisebridge ones. My ideal bylaws would be based on HacDC, with some provisions added including articles 9, 10, 11 (rewritten for NY law) and 12 from Noisebridge. I would also question the need for separate election of officers. I would have a relatively small board that's responsible for day-to-day management, with almost all decisions being made at members meetings. For interfacing externally we might need to designate a “President” or “Treasurer”, but with a small board of volunteers it might work better to have the whole board collectively responsible for these tasks. I realize that the roles can always change, so someone who is Treasurer can resign and a new one can be elected, but that seems like a lot of bureaucracy for small gains in accountability. —Guan 17:17, 17 October 2011 (EDT)
