General comments

  • Doesn't fit most people's foreheads very well -Guan

Mindset

  • Signal not as clean and responsive as Mindwave. -Daniel
  • Arm broke (now swings limply) -Daniel
  • Audio not used (didn't come up with an audio+EEG) idea -Daniel

Mindwave

  • Best for computer inteface (works reliably via serial ports) -Daniel
  • Dongle can be hacked into a project (e.g. attached to microcontroller) without having to deal with bluetooth support -Daniel
  • EMG signal is huge, and interferes with EEG such that attention can be lowered by repeated blinking. Facial tension sufficient to obscure signal. Any use involving movement of body or head (including while talking or eating) is impossible without disturbing EEG signal.
  • Headband could be a couple notches longer to accommodate adults
  • Battery life excellent
  • Bundled software disappointing (mostly threshold-based, not much use of meditation, buggy/hard to run cross-platform).

Mindwave Mobile

  • Unable to get any data from bluetooth connection on Linux -Daniel
  • Guan said he had to try several times to get his iPad reading data -Daniel
  • I believe someone with a Mac was unable to get data from them? -Daniel
